Two new solution to reduce trauma and increase the predictability.

One of the most frequent reasons for failure encountered in sinus floor elevation procedures is connected to the rupture of the Schneider membrane which, if torn, can no longer perform the containment function of the graft, which is essential for the biomaterial to stabilize and transform into bone to receive implants.

During the session an innovative protocol for the surgical maxillary sinus augmentation via a crestal approach that uses hydraulic pressure to lift the Schneiderian membrane and simultaneously fill the subantral space with a biomaterial for bone regeneration will be described.

This technique combines the advantages of large amounts of grafted biomaterial with reduced trauma, high precision, and predictability.

A lateral approach using a low invasiveness technique that uses a mesenchimal membrane to contain a thermoplastic graft will be shown.

This surgical operation allows to avoid the risk of dispersion of the graft even in case of rupture of membrane during the detachment

A practical workshop will give the possibility to handle biomaterials used in these techniques

About The Lecturer:
Dr. Lopez graduated in Medicine and Surgery at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome, in 1989, and obtained his specialisation in Odontostomatology in 1993.
He is the author of several scientific articles on prosthetics, implantology and regenerative methods.
He regularly gives lectures and presents at congresses in Italy and abroad, currently he is Oral Surgeon in UOS TIORL of Campus Biomedico of Rome. He holds a patent for implant shapes and burs.
Dr. Lopez works in his private practice in Rome, exclusively in the area of reconstructive prosthetic surgery and implantology.
